Earth observation

With a simple beginning in early 60s, Indian space program has grown as a symbol of the nation’s sophisticated techno capabilities and its increasing regional and worldwide prestige. Over the last forty years, Indian Space program has made huge progress towards creation the space infrastructure as the resource to hurry various developmental processes and enjoy the benefits of space applications for development.

The Indian Space programme has the main objective of changing space technology and application programmes to tailor them towards the developmental requirements of the country. Towards meeting this goal, two large operational systems have been set up – the Indian National Satellite (INSAT) for telecommunication, television broadcasting, and meteorological services as well as the Indian Remote Sensing Satellite (IRS) for observing and management of natural resources and Disaster Management Support.

What is NRSC?

All about National Remote Sensing Centre

We are not NRSC. Click here for their official site.

National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), situated at Hyderabad is among the centres of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), aiming to realise the Indian Space Vision, as a vital player in Earth Observation Programme programme. NRSC is accountable for acquiring, processing, provision of aerial and satellite data and continually discovering the practical needs of remote sensing technology for many (worldwide to local) applications. It offers the necessary trained manpower via capacity building in remote sensing applications.

Images from NRSC

NRSC has a huge number of images from foreign remote sensing satellites in its backlog and also has the ability to acquire data relating to any part of the globe by request.

NRSC offers end-to-end solutions for use of data for natural resource issues, geospatial applications and data services. NRSC allows several remote sensing and GIS application projects for resources and ecological management relating to food security, renewable energy security and sustainable development. NRSC is also providing single-window, disaster management support services through the Decision Support Centre.
